Loan Origination Team Leader

The Loan Origination Team Leader will assist the Loan Officer Manager and/or Operations Manager in daily oversight of both on- and off-site CU Members In-house Loan Officers. They will be a producing manager responsible for the Loan Officer staff, providing training, mentoring, guidance, counseling, and additional member counseling.

  • Establish team goals in conjunction with the Loan Officer Manager
  • Assist in developing and utilizing tools to perform analysis of various measures of productivity including: pull-through, approval, lead conversion, call productivity,etc.
  • Track progress of all LO’s in meeting monthly production goals
  • Track weekly production and quality control of timely response to all leads, phone inquiries, and applications
  • Follow up with staff to correct and maintain Loan Officer pipeline reports
  • Maintain quality control of loan files originated by loan officer staff making sure they are turned into processing in a timely manner
  • Work with staff to make consistent follow up calls on prequalified loans in each pipeline
  • Provide information and training on new products
  • Assist in developing a sales culture with the credit unions
  • Assist in developing workflows that minimize Loan Officer downtime due to paperwork / data gathering
  • Emphasize quality service standards and track results (ie. Member Satisfaction Surveys) on a monthly basis
  • Prepare LO performance reviews with management
  • Be able to counsel LO’s when performance falls below expected levels including making recommendations for corrective action by the employee and       preparing and participating in regular performance reviews.
  • Participate in regional industry functions
  • Participate in training the credit unions on our business and our business model
  • Be a student of the mortgage industry
  • Demonstrate leadership and ability to support other LO’s in all areas of origination, processing, and closing.
  • Demonstrate top level production skills
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude at all times
  • Be a source of product and procedure information at all times
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to meet all goals
  • Other duties as assigned by management
Job Requirements
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years loan origination and/or processing experience with thorough knowledge of Agency and FHA/VA guidelines, PMI, and private market lender exposure
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent planning & leadership skills
  • Advanced level of communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Advanced interpersonal skills with strong emphasis on relationship building
  • 2 to 5 years Credit union experience is a preferred
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Some college coursework completed
  • Successful NMLS Registration is required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
