Mortgage Trainer

The Mortgage Trainer will be responsible for the analysis, development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of training activities primarily supporting the credit union. Scope will include both internal and external training to introduce systems, processes, procedures and products to Credit Unions, Sales, Operations and Support personnel; ongoing training to disseminate product, industry and corporate information and updates; and the ongoing delivery of training and development programs designed to meet identified organizational needs.

Responsibilities include: 
  • Partner with CU Management to assess and define new and existing training needs
  • Manage and deliver all aspects of training that support business development objectives
  • Participate in CU panel discussions as a Company representative
  • Continually assesses the efficiencies and processes of Credit Union and internal operations, including employee skill and knowledge levels to identify competency gaps and areas of opportunity
  • Consult within the corporate training team and with the CU line of business on best learning solutions and strategies to achieve the desired performance objectives
  • Apply instructional design and adult learning theory to propose solutions that are cost-effective, easy to create and maintain, visually and instructionally compelling and provide a rewarding experience to the learner
  • Recommend and develop new content leveraging the most effective medium to meet learner and organizational needs including ILT, virtual, e-learning, job aids, manuals, side-by-side and/or blended solutions
  • Establish and maintain process standards that produce content deliverables aligned with instructional design concepts and company practices
  • Ensure documents (policies, procedures and work instructions) are relevant and consistent with training course materials and content
  • Review, edit and re-design existing curriculum as needed
  • Provide routine status reporting and communications regarding training activities
  • Develop and distribute communications to appropriate audiences to inform employees about training opportunities, progress and other applicable updates
  • Perform on-site training for new Credit Union partners
  • Recommend and implement improvements to existing training processes driven by new objectives, industry standards, new technologies, and internal business needs
  • Develop tools for evaluating training effectiveness to ensure that the training and development programs are meeting the needs of the business
  • Perform administrative tasks within the Learning Management System (LMS) to manage content, registrations, attendance and course assessments
  • Develop and maintain appropriate technical skills to support the material creation process
  • Provide quality assurance for all design processes and deliverables (e.g. accuracy in grammar and content, application of learning theory and design principles, and use of appropriate templates and branding)
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of company, product and industry from continued training, education and self-learning
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts regarding instructional design
  • Partner with the Talent Development Manager to coordinate global initiatives
  • Manages special projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
  • 10 years of comprehensive mortgage origination or processing experience required
  • 5 years of experience in mortgage staff training required
  • 5 years of LOS experience required
  • Empower, Mortgage Cadence, Roostify preferred
  • 5 years of Credit Union experience preferred
  • Experience with the mortgage industry and mortgage terminology
  • Knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA loan products
  • Ability to quickly learn our products and programs
  • Knowledge of adult learning, educational techniques, instructional program design, and best training practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic, fast paced working environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to plan and implement resolutions to problems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe and Outlook
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects within deadlines
  • Ability to work in both a collaborative (team) environment as well as perform independent work is required
  • Ability to travel as required for Credit Union training needs
