Quality Control Associate - Mortgage

Our client is seeking an experienced Quality Control Associate to join their growing company. This position is responsible for monitoring and working with production staff to enhance the quality of residential mortgage originations, through Quality Control (QC) procedures while ensuring that the company is complying with all regulations.

*Please note, this is an in-office position. Must be commutable to the office, remote work is not offered for this opportunity*
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform pre-funding, post-funding and mortgage compliance reviews.
  • Assist the manager in the preparation of reports and detailing findings from pre-funding and post-funding reviews.
  • Alert QC managers to ensure corrective actions are taken and implemented within specified timeframes.
  • Continually assess and test production operations to improve operations and comply with regulatory and investor requirements; provide recommendations to lending management.
  • Keep abreast of investor and regulatory changes and ensure awareness by production operations.
  • Investigate potential fraud reports for the lending area and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) with BSA for further follow up.
  • Conduct QC checks on the closed loans in accordance with Board guidance.
  • Work with the company’s Compliance manager to ensure the residential mortgage group is operating in accordance with regulations.
  • Assist the QC and Compliance manager with reviewing and submitting HMDA reports.
  • Assist with the reviewing of loans for sale.
  • Any additional duties assigned by the QC and Compliance Manager
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Three to five years of residential mortgage lending experience.
  • Exposure to all aspects of origination, servicing secondary marketing and mortgage compliance areas preferred.
  • Familiarity with internal audit policy and procedures.
  • Certification in Regulatory Compliance (e.g. CRCM) preferred.
  • Familiarity with HMDA and new changes
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or equivalent experience.
  • High ethics.
  • Strong customer service orientation and commitment to providing excellent service to internal and external customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact and work respectfully and cooperatively with others.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen, speak and write clearly and concisely, and focus on the recipient's point of view.
