On-Site Chief Compliance Officer- Mortgage

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance on all federal and state regulations impacting the mortgage lending business.
  • Analyze new and changing consumer laws and regulations through regulatory change management process and disseminate information to applicable business areas for implementation.
  • Maintain, track and report on identified compliance issues outlined in remediation plans and ensure policies and procedures are implemented and published.
  • Develop, track, review and publish policies and procedures related to federal and state statutes, regulations, and rules as well as system changes and updates as needed.
  • Maintain a competent level of expertise and knowledge of the requirements of the various laws, regulations, rules governing the mortgage company's activities.
  • Assist in other areas when needed such as product and system testing and development.
  • Assist in preparation and oversight of annual state filings, post-closing due diligence findings/audits, regulatory reporting, such as HMDA and NMLS MCR to ensure accuracy.
  • Oversee and manage any customer complaints, with appropriate responses and filings through to final disposition.
  • Prepare documentation and responses for state or federal regulatory audits and examinations.
  • Present information to the Board of Directors or a committee thereof.
  • Coach, mentor, and support Compliance staff, as needed. Assist in hiring, completing performance evaluations and performance improvement plans, as needed.
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • Qualifications
    • 7+ years of mortgage regulatory compliance experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in a supervisory/management role leading a project, process or team.
    • Strong knowledge of all federal and state mortgage laws and regulations.
    • Experience with Encompass and proficiency with Excel a plus.
    • Experience with NMLS, MCR filing, HMDA reporting and fair lending analysis.
    • Experience handling state and federal regulatory examinations.
    • Experience in developing and implementing compliance policies, programs, and procedures, including regulatory risk assessments.
    • Excellent ability to interpret and communicate regulatory guidance.
    • Strong project-management skills with a proven ability to coordinate across departments and functions.
    • Willingness to jump in with a positive attitude to help with any task. Ability to analyze complex situations and provide guidance, make recommendations, and/or escalate issues to appropriate levels of management.
    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Flexible and adaptable.
    • Analytical and questioning thought process.
    • Ability to manage time and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
Salary 120-150k
