Job Title: Director of Bond Financing

Reports To: National Director of Originations and Acquisitions

Salary: 120k plus commission

Summary:

We are seeking a Director of Bond Financing for Affordable Housing to join our team. This role will focus on originating bond financing throughout the U.S. for affordable housing projects, managing the issuance and compliance of bonds, and collaborating with developers, financial institutions, and government bodies. The Director will be responsible for sourcing and originating tax-exempt bond underwriting opportunities for multifamily affordable housing properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in affordable housing finance, bond issuance, and regulatory compliance.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Originate: Build and manage relationships with owners, developers, issuers, and business partners to generate new bond financing opportunities.
  • Bond Issuance Management: Oversee the entire bond issuance process, including preparing offering documents, coordinating with underwriters, and negotiating terms.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding bond financing, including documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with underwriting and closing teams to evaluate and resolve key business points throughout the underwriting and closing processes.
  • Financial Analysis: Collaborate with analysts to prepare financial models and evaluate the viability of projects, ensuring optimal funding structures for bond issuance.
  • Industry Research: Stay current on trends and changes in affordable housing finance, regulations, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Meetings: Participate in weekly pipeline meetings to discuss the status of transactions, new product developments, and company initiatives.
  • Conferences and Networking: Identify and participate in industry conferences, networking events, forums, and other functions to promote bond financing opportunities and expand market reach.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (BA) from a four-year college or university in finance, real estate, public policy, or a related field; or a combination of relevant education and experience (minimum of five years).
  • Licensing: Current FINRA Series SIE, 7, 52, and 63 licenses.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in affordable housing finance, bond issuance, or a similar role.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of affordable housing finance mechanisms, including Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) and other funding sources.
  • Financial Acumen: Proficient in financial analysis and modeling with strong analytical skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HubSpot or other CRM tools.
