Director of Mortgage Lending- In Office

Our client is an emerging start up in the private lending space, specializing in Non-QM (Non-Qualified Mortgage) and private lending solutions.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Director of Mortgage Lending to oversee the operations and sales of our mortgage brokerage. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Non-QM and private lending, with proven leadership and strategic planning capabilities. This individual will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, leading the sales and lending team, developing and executing growth strategies, and fostering strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management & Leadership: Lead and manage the brokerage, including overseeing daily operations, setting performance targets, and guiding the sales and operations teams to achieve business goals.
  • Sales & Revenue Growth: Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth through private lending and Non-QM loan products. Lead sales efforts and establish a robust pipeline of business opportunities.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute corporate growth strategies to increase market share and expand the company’s presence in the Non-QM and private lending sectors.
  • Team Development & Performance: Hire, train, mentor, and manage a high-performing team. Set clear performance expectations, provide feedback, and ensure the team operates at peak efficiency.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, investors, and other key partners to enhance business development and long-term growth.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure that all mortgage lending activities comply with state and federal regulations, including adherence to NMLS standards. Maintain best practices for managing risk.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage and oversee the financial performance of the lending division, including setting budgets, monitoring expenses, and maximizing profitability.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in mortgage lending, with a focus on private lending, Non-QM products, and/or alternative lending solutions.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in a senior leadership role, managing teams, and overseeing both sales and operations in a mortgage or financial services environment.
  • NMLS License: Active NMLS license is required.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of mortgage lending practices, Non-QM products, underwriting, compliance, and regulations. Ability to develop and execute business strategies, manage budgets, and drive growth.
  • Relationship Building: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, brokers, investors, and industry partners.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to work independently and in a startup environment, taking initiative and driving results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a startup environment or high-growth companies.
  • A proven track record in building and scaling mortgage lending businesses.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements for Non-QM and private lending.
