Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced DE/VA Underwriter for a 90-day interim assignment with the potential to transition to a permanent role. This position is remote, but candidates must reside in Texas to be considered. The ideal candidate will have recent experience underwriting FHA and VA loans and must have underwritten and signed off on frontline FHA and VA loans within the last 11 months.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform accurate and timely underwriting of FHA and VA loans, ensuring compliance with agency, investor, and company guidelines.
• Review and analyze loan applications, credit, income, asset documentation, and property appraisals.
• Make sound underwriting decisions and communicate loan conditions effectively to loan officers and processors.
• Stay current on FHA and VA policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with team members to resolve loan issues and provide guidance as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Active DE (Direct Endorsement) and VA SAR/LAPP certification.
• Must have underwritten and signed off on frontline FHA and VA loans within the past 11 months.
• Strong knowledge of FHA, VA, and investor guidelines.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in mortgage underwriting.
• Proficiency in mortgage underwriting systems and automated underwriting tools.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment.

Additional Information:
This is a temporary interim position expected to last approximately 90 days. There is a possibility of becoming a permanent position, based on performance and business needs. During the interim period, this role is not eligible for PTO or benefits, but benefits may be offered if transitioned to a permanent role.
