Position Title: Inside Loan Officer (Guideline Expert – Non-Sales Focused)
Location: On-site | Phoenix, AZ
Compensation: Flexible Base + Commission Structure (Target around $100K+, potential for significantly higher earnings based on experience and structure)
About the Role:
Our client, a growing lender based in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking an experienced, highly technical Inside Loan Officer to join their in-office team. This is not a traditional sales-driven LO role — they are looking for someone who thrives on guideline expertise, client prequalification, and complex problem-solving rather than sales quotas or cold calling.
The ideal candidate is a true loan officer/underwriter hybrid—someone with a deep understanding of loan guidelines who can skillfully prequalify and structure more complicated borrower scenarios. You’ll be working with a steady stream of inbound business from existing channels, focusing on delivering a high-quality client experience with precision and care.
Key Responsibilities:
Prequalify clients based on complex agency and investor guidelines
Accurately evaluate loan scenarios and recommend appropriate solutions
Handle inbound inquiries and manage client communications with a consultative, professional approach
Work closely with processing, underwriting, and management teams to ensure seamless transactions
Maintain knowledge of changing guidelines across various products and programs
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a loan officer, underwriter, or a similar technical lending role
Strong knowledge of mortgage guidelines (conventional, FHA, VA, etc.)
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to communicate complex lending requirements to clients in a clear and friendly manner
Current LO license or willingness to obtain one (support available)
Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and driven to deliver exceptional client service
Compensation Structure:
Flexible based on the candidate’s preference:
Heavier commission model for higher earning potential
Higher base salary for more stability (with moderate commission upside)
Target total compensation around $100K+, with significant upside for highly experienced candidates, especially those with leadership ability.
