POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting department including all investor and company finance as well as hiring and coaching and staff development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinates and directs the financial planning, budgeting, procurement, or investment activities of all or part of the organization.
  • Develops internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
  • Prepares or directs preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports.
  • Manages month-end closing process.
  • Reviews and prepares journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial statements and variances.
  • Oversees financial reporting and analysis, and drives financial planning processes and budget decisions.
  • Provides upper management and other departments with accurate, timely, and useful communications, including reports and analysis to enable them to make appropriate decisions.
  • Ensures that all investor reporting functions (FNMA, GNMA, FHLMC, Credit Unions) are performed accurately and timely.
  • Ensures the quarterly mortgage banking report and NMLS call report are reviewed and filed.
  • Coordinates and prepares for the Annual Financial Audit with the company’s audit firm.
  • Files annual financial reports on the NMLS and FHA websites; completes annual certifications and submits annual audit reports to FNMA, FHLMC, HUD and GNMA.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with other departments, internal and external customers
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
SPECIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE OR QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience: At least three (3) years of prior accounting management experience within a Mortgage Company
  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to interact cross functionally, and with different levels of management within the organization.
  • Strong Excel and systems skills required.
  • Excellent, professional verbal and written communication skills.
