Accounts Payable Clerk

Job Description:
 
Perform accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions.
 
 
Major Responsibilities:
  • review and verify invoices and check requests
  • sort, code and match invoices
  • set invoices up for payment
  • enter and upload invoices into system
  • track expenses and process expense reports
  • prepare and process electronic transfers and payments
  • prepare and perform check runs
  • post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records
  • reconcile accounts payable transactions
  • prepare analysis of accounts
  • monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
  • maintain vendor files
  • correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • produce monthly reports
  • assist with month end closing
  • Assist in the year-end audit and other activities/projects including process improvement initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
  • Strong communication / organizational skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a flexible and production orientated environment
  • Effective decision making and problem solving skills
  • Advanced to excellent PC Skills including (but not limited to) email, internet and customized database management
  • Excellent level skills with MS Word and MS Excel
  • Must be able to read and/or interpret numbers and letters correctly
  • Must work with numbers to calculate timeframe and evaluate costs and losses
  • Must demonstrate organization and prioritization skills to manage time
  • Self-starter able to function effectively in a fast-paced growing company
  • Detailed oriented team player who is adaptable to change
  • Experienced professional with high standards of excellence and adherence to deadlines
  • Strong internal controls background
  • Self-starter able to function effectively in a fast-paced growing company and adapt to change
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work in teams
  • Relationship management; ability to establish and maintain credibility with business constituents at all levels.
