Our client is hiring a senior-level Operations Manager who has done the work inside mortgage operations, not someone who has only managed from a distance. This role is responsible for overseeing and optimizing mortgage operations across the company while working in close partnership with existing department leaders. You will not run Processing, Underwriting, or Closing day-to-day, but will collaborate with those managers to improve performance, remove bottlenecks, and drive execution across the platform. The right person can step into any department and quickly understand what is working, what is broken, and what needs to change.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner with leaders of Processing, Underwriting, Closing, Funding, Post-Closing, QC, and Disclosures
• Monitor turn times, volume flow, and capacity across all operational departments
• Identify bottlenecks, quality risks, and staffing gaps; ensure teams are resourced to support growth
• Review, map, and improve workflows across the loan lifecycle; eliminate inefficiencies and redundancy
• Design and implement processes that improve speed, accuracy, and scalability; drive consistent best practices
• Own operational execution of the core technology stack, including Encompass, Blend, and Polly
• Lead software rollouts, training, and adoption; ensure measurable improvements from usage
• Partner across Sales, Capital Markets, Compliance, HR, and Finance to align operations strategy with growth and profitability goals
• Lead operations projects including technology deployments, workflow redesigns, training initiatives, and capacity planning
• Strengthen accountability and collaboration while driving change without unnecessary bureaucracy
What We’re Looking For
• 5+ years of experience across multiple mortgage operations functions (processing, underwriting support, closing, post-closing, funding)
• Strong working knowledge of Encompass-based environments
• Experience with Blend and Polly preferred (or comparable front-end and pricing systems)
• Ability to diagnose operational problems and drive solutions across teams
• Collaborative leadership style that works well within an established organization
Schedule and Compensation
Remote/Hybrid. West Coast candidates strongly preferred. 40 to 50 hours/week. Base salary and bonus based on experience. Full benefits. Not overtime eligible.
