
Position Title: Contract Mortgage Servicing Review Specialist
Location: Remote
Compensation: 35 dollars per hour, 1099
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST
Overview:
We are hiring a Contract Mortgage Servicing Review Specialist for a detailed servicing review project. This is a fully remote 1099 assignment where you must use your own equipment and have reliable internet. The role requires someone with proven, hands-on mortgage servicing experience who has directly handled payment-string review, escrow and suspense research, delinquency analysis, and validation of complex payment activity. The assignment begins as early as December 8 and runs roughly 4 to 6 weeks. Full availability during the required schedule is mandatory, and there is no PTO, paid breaks, or holiday pay due to the 1099 structure.
Responsibilities:
• Review full payment strings, including principal and interest application, escrow movement, suspense activity, fees, reversals, and curtailments
• Validate the chronological sequencing of all payments across servicing systems and identify any breaks in order, mismatches, duplicates, or missing entries
• Review escrow disbursements, shortages, overages, and payment application issues impacting borrower analysis
• Identify partial payments, unapplied funds, delinquency progression, roll rates, and payment anomalies
• Review and interpret servicing comments to confirm large, irregular, or unusual payments and verify correct application
• Cross-check records for data integrity between systems, notes, and transaction histories
• Complete high-volume, heads-down review work while maintaining strict accuracy requirements
• Flag discrepancies with clear explanations of the issue and how the payment activity should read
Requirements: (Please note as this is 1099- no formal training is provided, you must have experience completing the following)
• Hands-on experience in mortgage servicing and loss mitigation with direct responsibility for payment-string review
• Prior work reviewing principal and interest, escrow activity, suspense accounts, reversals, and curtailments
• Experience identifying delinquency patterns, roll rates, partial payments, and other payment anomalies
• Ability to interpret servicing comments and verify accuracy of large or unusual payments
• Experience must be clearly shown on your resume, not implied
• Must provide your own computer and have stable, reliable internet
• Must work the full 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST schedule with no exceptions
• Available to start as early as December 8 with no planned time off for the duration of the assignment
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, heads-down review environment
