
Our client is hiring a VP of Appraisal Management to lead the national appraisal desk function and oversee appraisal operations, quality, and vendor performance. This role is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, with remote consideration for the right person.
In this position, you will lead a team of five and own the appraisal process from order placement through delivery, revisions, escalations, and final resolution. You will be responsible for appraisal quality controls, policy and workflow consistency, vendor management, and performance metrics tied to cycle times and service levels. You will also be the primary owner of the RIGORRA national appraisal desk process and day-to-day execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the national appraisal desk and manage a team of five.
Own appraisal ordering, tracking, pipeline management, and timely issue resolution.
Manage appraisal vendors and appraiser panels, including performance management and service level expectations.
Oversee appraisal quality controls, revision management, and escalation handling (including disputes and ROVs).
Create, refine, and enforce policies and procedures that improve appraisal workflow, consistency, and risk controls.
Monitor cycle times, revision trends, fee escalations, and vendor performance, and drive measurable improvement.
Partner with operations, underwriting, and production teams to remove bottlenecks and improve closing timelines and borrower experience.
Qualifications:
Prior leadership experience in mortgage appraisal management (lender-side preferred).
Experience running an appraisal desk operation and managing vendor performance at scale.
Strong understanding of appraisal compliance and quality concepts, and comfort managing escalations and time-sensitive files.
Proven ability to lead teams and improve performance using metrics and process discipline.
Ability to work in Salt Lake City, Utah, with remote consideration for the right candidate.
Compensation:
Base salary $120,000 to $150,000 (no bonus).
